Japanese KC-767 damaged

According to the DEW Line blog over at FlightGlobal – one of the two 767 airborne tankers delivered to the JASDF was damaged during an emergency landing earlier today.

DEW Line has link to Japanese statement – and someone’s attempt to translate the statement to English.

This turned into a non-incident. The refueling boom would not retract and so when the plane came into land, the boom dragged (causing the damage) and starting a small fire (sparks due to the boom being dragged).

Ares has a picture of the plane sitting intact (on the main gear) on the runway.
